As new technologies continue to emerge, the role technology plays in building a better world is greater than ever.
New industries are born when the industries that support society create new technologies, put them to use, and evolve. Along the way, through repeated trial and error, mechanisms such as ecosystems, openness, platforms, and deregulation have been combined to give these technologies a form society can embrace.
As an Industry Founder, we want to contribute to building new industries through technology and the systems around it.
Shinichiro Okazaki, CEO, Founz Inc.
Shinichiro Okazaki founded Founz Inc. in 2025 and works with Japan's leading corporations, advanced startups, and government agencies on the strategy, development, and deployment of advanced-technology businesses in fields such as autonomous driving, AI, and quantum technology — guided by a career-long conviction that bringing technology into society is what drives social progress. Before Founz, Shinichiro joined the autonomous-driving startup TIER IV in its early days, leading the commercialization of autonomous buses and autonomous delivery robots in projects across Japan.
Earlier, at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Shinichiro worked on nuclear decommissioning following the Fukushima accident, government-wide growth strategy, the adoption of regenerative medicine, and the industrialization of preventive healthcare.
Shinichiro holds degrees from the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University and the University of California, San Diego, and served as captain of the varsity tennis team as a student.
